Kim Hobbs

CEO & Co-Founder

With a career in senior leadership in law firms, Kim saw at first hand how ineffective the courts are in deterring people from a life of crime*. Deciding that passively standing by was not an option, Kim determined to launch a befriending/resettlement and advocacy service to prisoners and to ex-offenders already in the community. In 2013 Kim gave up his career to begin volunteering at HMP The Mount in Hertfordshire. Cornergate Foundation was established shortly afterwards. Since then he has supported numerous guys as they look forward to release from prison, delivered training to prisoners in job-hunting, supported homeless people in housing applications, assisted guys and girls through drug and alcohol detox and spoken up for individuals through the court process and in other family and welfare adjudications. Kim passionately believes that society must welcome the returning offender so that they are offered the best chance to resettle and leave crime behind for good, for the sake of the offender, his/her family and for society in general.

* current government statistics tell us that nearly half of offenders overall will reoffend within twelve months of release from prison.

Jo Hobbs

Co-Founder

Jo is co-founder of Cornergate Foundation and wife to Kim. Just like Kim, Jo is passionate to see prisoners and ex-offenders offered the same opportunities as anyone else in society. “Once a prisoner has completed their sentence their punishment is over - according to the courts anyway - so let’s put our efforts into supporting their successful return to family and community. Let’s support them as they re-connect with their children and other loved-ones.” says Jo. A member of the senior leadership of a Children’s Centre in Hertfordshire, Jo is an expert in leading in Early Years care and education.

Trustees

We are very grateful to have diligent and committed Trustees who also volunteer with us in numerous ways. Drawn from the world of retail management, sales and marketing, accounts and pastoral backgrounds, they are a multi-skilled team with a collective passion to support prisoners and ex-offenders as well as the vulnerable. Their strategic and careful stewardship seeks to ensure that CF is a resource that will remain for years to come.
